2nd grade project

Blake had his first 2nd grade project to complete during the month of October. The assignment was to make something out of an apple. It could be anything at all. The basic instructions were
1. This is a family project, but the 2nd grader is the boss
2. Be creative
3. Have fun
Blake decided to make...... A BASEBALL, of course. Our first attempt was to use white frosting to cover the apple and then put white and red m and m's on top of the frosting to make it look like a baseball. Well, it's a good thing we practiced a couple of days before it was due because it did not turn out as we had hoped. We moved forward to plan B.... we used white fondant to cover the apple and red licorice whips to make the baseball stitches. It turned out perfect and we had a great time working on this together. He presented his finished product in a baseball glove and had to give a short oral presentation about his project. He received an A+ and we are very proud of him!
